Through the justice-impacted veterans program, The Xena Project brings services and support to men and women currently incarcerated in Fort Bend County Jail, and/or participating in Fort Bend County Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC). Current initiatives include:

  • Small groups. Weekly Bible studies in the veterans unit in the jail, led by a team of fellow veterans.
  • Yoga. Twice-weekly yoga and meditation classes for veterans in the jail, led by a male Army veteran
  • Veterans Treatment Court. Support of all involved with Veterans Treatment Court, a combined felony and misdemeanor docket that meets once a month. The Xena Project brings breakfast for the veterans on the docket, court staff, and all law enforcement working in the courthouse as well as providing speakers to offer words of encouragement. Between dockets, The Xena Project mentors individuals in need of support, offers opportunities to complete community service, and more.
  • General court support. When veterans involved in our programs go to court for any reason, a member of The Xena Project team is often in the courtroom to simply ensure that they are not alone. If family is present, this is a good opportunity to meet the family and better determine needs.
